I went training this morning. 6.30am. It was cold and the music was very loud in the gym.
But I got started and I did lots. My trainer was brilliant.
I did however find myself with a rather heavy weight sat on my shoulders at one point, attempting to activate my glutes.
My bottom (or glutes) were groaning.
I felt good though.
H is not convinced that I should do the marathon. He thinks I don't have enough time to train.
He is probably right but there is such a strong pull for me to do something that should be impossible.
Physically I am probably not strong enough but am I mentally? Can my absolute stubborn nature carry me 26 miles?
I was so determined to do mine last year. . . and then someone with more running experience than me said to me, hitting just the right tone so that I didn't feel bossed or patronized or whatever, "There will be other marathons, you know. It's not worth injuring yourself for this one." And all of a sudden, I felt as if I could give myself permission to let go of last year's. I'm much closer this year, and we'll see. . . . I'm very impressed by how far you've come, as a runner, so quickly. . .
ReplyDeleteLovely and thoughtful comment. Thank you. I am watching your marathon progress with interest. I love that you enjoy the running. I am just beginning to enjoy it again. I have had some great runs in recent weeks. I think I am going to let this one go but I can't quite bring myself to do it just yet!
