Summer

Today we had a proper English sunny summer day. It was warm and the land glowed.

Sun rays across a blue sky shouting out loveliness and happiness.

In the distance an aeroplane. Always an aeroplane.

The strong smell of grass and flowers. The swifts are swifting about. What more can I say? They are playing, darting across the field and balancing on the telephone wires.

There is the occasional distant bleat of a sheep and another animal noise that I cannot identify but likely to be a moaning cow.

Why does the world feel better on a day full of yellow and orange?

Bad things still happen to good people. But today I feel like there is nothing that could be that bad. At least in my small world the usual triviality actually feels trivial.

Work and stuff. It does not matter when the sky is the brightest blue and the dogs are laid across my feet.

The forecast for this week is more summer days. Actual summer days.

I want to buy a padding pool.

  1. Sweet! It's true, despite all the horrid things going on, sometimes the world demands that we also observe the goodness, soak it up. . .
